I wish I could say it was an extended fishing trip that kept me from posting for so long. Sadly, our beloved Ong Noi, the Geek’s father, passed away two weeks ago. We will miss him dearly.
And now we are trying to get back in the swing of things…

This morning, our town held a Fishing Derby on a local pond–that just happens to be right in our backyard. The Geek purchased a “Cars”-themed fishing rod for Goose, and together, they fished on the pond, along with some neighborhood friends.

Our little group failed to catch anything, but we did have a nice time. And we’ll surely add fishing to our list of summertime activities!

That is a look of pure joy on Goose’s face. That’s because his birthday present from Auntie–which was worth the wait–arrived a few days ago, and the Geek put it together last night.

His very own train table! Wow! I have to admit that Mommy and Daddy are having an awful lot of fun with it, too. Thanks, Auntie!
There are probably hundreds of uses for a Pug–a doorstop, a bed warmer, a garbage disposal, a vacuum cleaner, etc., etc. But our favorite around here is as a pillow.

Better late than never, right?
We did a couple of fun things last week, so I wanted to share some pictures and commentary… even if it all feels like ancient history now.
We visited our local Zoo for the first time (I know–I can’t believe it took us this long to get there either!) with all of Goose’s Lady Friends. Here they are gathered on a tiger. Oh, and that’s one of Mommy Goose’s good friends at the end, making sure they don’t fall off!

The Zoo was a pretty big hit with Goose. He was especially fond of the snakes and the turtles. And a huge fake cow.
Last Friday, we visited our local Firehouse with one of our playgroups. It was a blast! The kids got to go inside a fire truck, and we all toured the firehouse–we saw where they sleep and eat and hang out. And Mommy Goose rolled up her baking sleeves for the first time in a long time and made them a batch of brownies as a thank you. With 25 crazy kids to deal with, they deserved it!
Here’s Goose getting comfy in the fire truck (and that’s a pretty cute firefighter by his side!).

On Saturday, the Geek took Goose to see a Sesame Street show with his godchild and her Dad. We think the Godchild enjoyed herself more than Goose, since she actually paid attention. Goose announced “All done. All done” soon after the second act started. That’s Goose-speak for “Let’s get out of here!”

Gotta love the expression on Goose’s face! Is watching Elmo really that tortuous? Still, he made it through the whole show.

I am very behind on my posts… We had another wild week in Goose-ville. More details, posts, and photos to come.
For now, I wanted to share a stylin’ photo of my 4-legged-niece, Beanie. As her shirt proclaims, she truly is a Queen Bean!

While I was at a baby shower with JB this past weekend, Goose was watching baseball… sort of.

You know, if you traded out that sippy cup for a can of Coors Light, he’d look just like a lot of Boston fans we know!
Today isn’t nearly as nice as yesterday was–it was close to 70 degrees here in Goose-ville. We took our first family bike ride of the season, using our brand-new bike trailer. We’re all gearing up for a 25-mile ride next month–and this time, even the Geek is going to ride. We’re all in training now.
Goose tried out the trailer for the first time a few days ago…

And, being us, we had to put Alistair in there, too. So the Goose moved to his seat, and Alistair rode in style!

That’s our Favorite Neighbor giving them a push, while his dog Nellie, Mueller’s girlfriend, rejoices that she’s too big to fit in any bike trailer!
Goose is breakfasting on Spaghettios… mixed with Cheerios.

Yuck.
Spaghettios are one of those foods–like the orange Kraft Mac & Cheese, fish sticks, chicken fingers, and other non-food-food items–that I swore he would never eat. That was one of many proclamations I made while Goose was in utero. Here are a few others: He’ll never drink formula. He’ll never watch TV. He’ll never sleep in bed with us. He’ll be potty-trained by age 2. There are many, many more.
And they all went straight out the window!
Eddie is movin’ on up. Not to the East side, but to a bigger house. Check out his new digs:

That’s Eddie, right in the middle. The other shell is for his entertainment, per my Caring for your Hermit Crab book. He now has separate water and food bowls–complete with a fancy little palm tree decoration. I think I could live quite happily in Eddie’s domain!
I even monogrammed the lid:

If only updating and improving the decor of my own home were this easy!
Maybe that should say: “Put your Goose to Work Day.” Look at this kid:

“I don’t care what you think–Sell! Sell! Sell!”
Did you notice that there are 3 (three!) computers on that desk? Oy! And I love that he had to make use of the Geek’s Zen garden to calm his stress. And that green bone belongs to Alistair. I gave Goose a small backpack to fill with toys to bring along, and I didn’t pay attention to what he collected. Love it!
